Mikhail Blagosklonny is a medical researcher and oncology lecturer at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute. He joined the First Pavlov State Medical University in St. Petersburg for his university education. He later graduated with masters in internal medicine and a Ph.D. in experimental medicine and cardiology from the University.
The New York Medical College appointed Blagosklonny as an associate professor in 2002. Blagosklonny also worked as the chief scientist at Ordway Research Institute. His role involved guiding the research institution in medical research. Mikhail Blagosklonny left Ordway Research Institute in 2009, and Roswell Park Cancer Institute employed him as an oncology lecturer.
Blagosklonny’s research focuses on cellular and molecular biology topics. Cell Cycle has published most of his findings. One of Blagosklonny’s brilliant works is the TOR signaling hypothesis. He formulated this hypothesis after carrying out tests on the relevance of rapamycin in aging and cancer. According to him, when rapamycin is used to treat cancer, it can decrease the rate at which cancer cells multiply. The drug is also useful in boosting the immunity of cancer patients.

Besides his contributions to cancer and aging research, Blagosklonny serves as an editor for several journals. He is the chief editor of Aging, Oncotarget, and Cell Cycle. As an open access online journal, Oncotarget’s articles revolve around oncology treatments. Blagosklonny works with Andrei Gudkov in editing the articles. Impact Journals owns Oncotarget. Blagosklonny was also appointed by the Cancer Biology and Therapy journal as an associate editor. He is also a member of Cell Death & Differentiation editorial board.
