People are getting more and more comfortable with the idea of booking personal services from their phone. Formerly Handybook, the cleaning service Handy has proven to be a reliable service that many people count on, including the Handy employees. They love the ease of use of the Handy app that allows them to book cleaning jobs on the spot.
The cleaning pros available make anywhere from $15 to $22 per hour. The explosion of the gig economy could be behind Handy’s growth. The cleaning service received 200,000 applications for handymen and cleaners. Handy’s extremely flexible contract work has roughly 80% of the workers on duty no more than 10 hours each week.
Handy is a bit different from many cleaning services because they also provide handyman and plumbing services. Handy has its sights set on global expansion, with 25 locations in the U.S., two in Canada, and a location in the U.K. Handy successfully raised $50 million in funding from TPG Growth, Fidelity, Highland Capital, General Catalyst, and Revolution Growth.
The company plans to use the funding to double the amount of cities that have the service available. Handy has also grown by acquiring its competition, Exec, in January 2014. People who need their home cleaned are able to easily navigate through the app to find a reliable cleaner. The professionals available through Handy have completed a background check.
The New York based service provider has recently added furniture delivery and assembly to its list of services. The newly added services are called Handy Delivery. A person can visit the Handy website and purchase Ikea furniture that they would like delivered and assembled. Send an email to Handy for any Ikea items that can’t be found on the site.
According to Randyreport.blogspot.com, the speedy service can have furniture delivered as soon the next day. The good news is, the furniture available from Handy is the same price as Ikea. The increase in price comes from delivery and assembly. One of the founders, indicated in a statement that it’s not the company’s goal to become an ecommerce portal, but a one stop shop for home services.
The question of whether consumers trust cleaners in their home or not is no longer a question. The incredible growth speaks for itself and people are growing accustomed to booking professional services from their phone.
