Healthy…..Or Not?

There is bad news for everyone trying to eat a little healthier these days. Many of the products the food industry are touting as health are just the same old junk in disguise. The Food and Drug Administration encourages consumers to read nutrition labels and know what to look for. The number one culprit seems to still be sugar. Products such as granola and flavored yogurt that consumers think of as healthy staples are loaded with the sweet stuff. Many granola options can be dense in calories due to the sugar added as well as often being cooked in butter or oil. Similarly yogurt is often times almost as high in sugar as ice cream, sometimes containing 17g of sugar per serving against ice cream’s 20g per serving.

Other surprisingly unhealthy products include juice and smoothies for their high calorie content. Low fat versions of ice cream and peanut butter don’t make the cut either, which surprises Brad Reifler a little. Other hidden calorie sinks that make the top ten list are energy bars, vitamin water, agave nectar, and multi grain items. The health conscience shopper needs to take care even with restaurant chicken. This lean meat staple loses its good name when cooked in oils or covered in creams or sauces. Consumers need to take care when reading labels and ensure that the ingredient list is short and is filled with actual food items that are recognizable.

Use Food to Cure Health Problems

It’s not news to anyone that as a whole, our world is made up of increasingly sicker people. And that is a direct result of another thing which has happened: our world is made up of increasingly heavier people. So it stands to reason if food got us into this health crisis, food can get us out of it.

Decades of high-fat, low-nutrition fast food has caused our waist lines to expand. Combine that with the convenience of drive-thru windows which added to our already sedentary lifestyles and we can easily see how we got into the shape we’re in. Food is now being used to cure health problems and prevent others from developing.

Susan McGalla told us that heart disease, diabetes and obesity can be prevented or reversed by eating the right foods and eliminating the wrong foods. The vast majority of doctor office visits could also be prevented if the right foods were being eaten on a regular basis.

All nutrition experts will have their own version of what is the right foods to eat or what is the best diet plant to follow, but no one is more of an expert about the way food makes you feel than you. The best advice being offered as a means to use food to cure health problems is to try different eating style for two weeks, then assess how you feel.

Commit to a vegetarian, vegan, Ayuvedic, Mediterranean, macrobiotic, etc., eating plan for two weeks, you’ll find the one that is best for you and your health.

Tapping Into The Healthy Benefits Of Olive Oil

Olive oil has been around for a very long time for a variety of uses but in the past ten to fifteen years olive oil has been playing a very important role in maintaining a health lifestyle and diet. Olive oil is a big component of the Mediterranean diet and studies have shown that this diet can help people live longer and healthier lives. Not only can olive oil be used for cooking purposes but it can also be used on the skin, hair and more. Some of the surprising benefits of olive oil include the following:

Heart Health
When you consume olive oil in moderation on a regular basis you are supporting your heart and your brain. Olive oil contains Omega 3 fatty acids which helps with blood flow. Olive oil can also protect your heart against free radicals and stress.

Healing The Skin
When you apply olive oil to a burn or wounded skin, you can heal the area in a very short amount of time thanks to all of the vitamins and fatty acids that are in this product. Not to mention this is a very safe and healthy way to treat an issue topically rather than using a chemical based product.

Olive oil is actually a natural sunscreen. Dan Newlin said many reports are finding chemical sunscreens are causing a higher risk of cancer but olive oil has been being used by people as a sunscreen for many years with great success.

Get Moving!

Exercising on a regular basis is not only good for our bodies, but for our minds as well. Many people find themselves becoming bored with their exercise routine since they do the exact same type of exercise every day. This can lead to them stopping and we all know that what that means; muffin tops.

The key to not growing bored of exercise is to change up your routine. There are many different ways to get the daily allowance recommended when it comes to cardiovscular exercise. For example, work different muscle groups on different days of the week. You do not want to work only your upper or lower body. Switch things up every other day so you do not become bored.

Another great way to stay motivated and active is music. Music with a great beat makes us want to get up and dance. Dancing is a fantastic way to burn calories and stay fit. Whether Ricardo Guimarães BMG says that you like house music or love to salsa, music can make all the difference.

Finally, do not be afraid to change the type of exercise you are doing. Many times we go to the gym, but are simply just going through the motions. Talke a spinning class instead of walking on the treadmill or a kickboxing class instead of using the elliptical machine. Changing your routine is a great wy to stay interested and not end up a couch potato!

Costco to Phase Out Sale of Chicken Treated with Antibiotics

Hot on the heels of McDonald’s announcement to phase out the use of chicken that has have given antibiotics, another major retailer has made a similar announcement. Costco and Haidar Barbouti has stated they will begin to phase out the sale of both chicken an beef which BizJournals reported was been treated with antibiotics.
Costoc is the third largest retailer in the United States will slowly begin phasing out the sale of antibiotic treated meat in all departments, including the deli, fresh and frozen meat departments.
The retail giant has teamed up with other giants to help them carry out their plan; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Center for Voluntary Medicine and the Food and Drug Administration. Working with these regulatory agencies and their suppliers will enable them to find the safest and quickest method for removing the antibiotic treated meat from the shelves.
Once the chicken and beef which contains antibiotics has been removed, it has to be replaced with meats that are free of antibiotics, yet affordable to the average customer. Customers have long been requesting antibiotic-free meat in restaurants and supermarkets, and now that two of the industry giants have listened and are now responding is a good thing. Keeping the price, appearance and taste of the meat which contains no antibiotics will be their next task after the phase out.

Alaska is Healthiest State to Live In

It’s cold almost year around. It’s dark for weeks on end. Parts of it are virtually cut off from the rest of the world. Sled dog teams and snow mobiles are the popular method of ground travel.
Talking about the healthiest state to live in, Alaska.
According to a recent Gallup report, Alaskans come in at number one for most exercise per capita. They also boost the lowest levels of stress in the country and the lowest instances of diabetes. And even though the state experiences periods of time when the sun does not shine, those who call Alaska home rarely suffer with depression.
Alaska has been in the Top Ten annual well-being states several times in the past, but never has it ranked in the number spot before. Other states that made the Top Ten list healthy place to live are also states that we deem ‘cold’. Places like Colorado, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming and Nebraska. Colorado has made it to the Top ten every year, and the other consistent Top Ten is a ‘warm’ state – Hawaii, impressive if you ask Dias.
Exercise seems to be the key to Alaskans health. It staves off obesity, depression and a host of other diseases and the Alaskan lifestyle demands exercise just to survive. Cutting firewood, walking through snow, hunting for food and all things associated with sustainable living in the wilderness is exercise and that is how Alaskans made it to the number one spot of Top Ten Healthiest Place to Live.

Healthy life means healthy career.  That’s something Vijay Eswaran has been talking, and writing about his entire life.  How a healthy life involved meditation, as well as the drive to do better.  Here’s what Vijay has done in his life, to continue to be an inspiration to others.

Vijay Eswaran was born in Penang, Malaysia to a teacher who also worked with the Malaysian Ministry of Labour at the time. Due to this, Vijay found himself continually moving around to different parts of the country during his early childhood. With all of his internal education regarding the labour system, he eventually went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in socio-economics from the London School of Economics at the age of 24. He did not just stay in London though. He continued to move forward and progress his business expertise.

Once Vijay finished his primary education, he remained in Europe performing an assortment of different jobs, including working construction in Belgium and working fields in France all the way to driving a cab in London. While back in the UK, he learned more about the binary system marketing, which caught his eye. He eventually went on to obtain qualifications from the CIMA inside of the UK and then obtained his MBA in the United States from Southern Illinois University by 1986, only two years after he had finished his bachelor’s degree. He stayed in the United States for a little longer, but soon returned back to Malaysia for the first time in several years.

While back in Malaysia, Vijay was eventually confronted by a Philippines business owner who was looking for assistance with multilevel marketing. Vijay worked with the man and, as his experience with MLM expanded, he eventually founded and opened a company called QI Group, which is an e-commercase based business that focuses in on travel, telecommunications, media, corporate investments and other aspects wealthier individuals might look into. With the growing success of the company, Vijay opened up a regional office inside of Hong Kong, in order to give him better access not only to the professional businessmen in China, but also in North America as well. From there, he opened up another regional office in Singapore, Bangkok and maintained an office in Penang as well. He now has a corporate office in over 10 countries, with each location providing different subsidiary entities, depending on the given region.

Vijay has become an extremely important business individual and has gone on to make several major presentations throughout the world, including at the World Economic Forum and the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in India. He also penned several books, such as the Sphere of Silence and several others since this time.

Vijay Eswaran also spends time on the public speaking circuit, providing his expertise to those in need, all over the world.
