Kevin Seawright is the executive vice president and chief financial officer of the Newark Community Economic Development Corporation. Recently, he opened up about his career and personal life. Seawright has had a successful career in both the private and public sector. His track record is quite impressive. His career kicked off in Baltimore, Maryland where he started a finance career in the government. After eleven years and a couple of awards to show, Kevin has moved to the private sector to spread his expertise in a new career opportunity.
Working with Mayor Ras Baraka, Newark has plans to develop an economic system for diverse communities, summer employment programs for Newark Students, Wi-Fi access, capital for small enterprise development, railroad lines and improvement of highways and the port. Seawright dedicates his time to enhancing development of urban cities by creating projects that will bring together the community. He encourages members of the community to join in projects that boost the economy of the city. Seawright’s passion for community developments started at an early age, through his parents influence. Kevin started working in youth programs at the age of 12. He attributes his current success to his upbringing and acknowledges his parents as his role models.
According to Kevin from his WorldClass Magazines interview, formal education is an excellent training tool. Kevin has enjoyed the benefits of online and formal education. Kevin further states on Twitter that as long as the form of education helps one to be productive in a work environment, then the education has served its purpose. Online education is becoming popular in this era with a number of students pursuing higher education from remote locations around the globe. Kevin just completed an executive leadership course from the University Of Notre Dame, Mendoza College of Business. According to Kevin, success revolves around family by having an open and wonderful relationship with them.
He has a good relationship with his immediate and extended family and he cherishes the relationship between him and his daughter. He has encouraged his daughter to cultivate a wonderful relationship with her uncles, aunts, cousins and grandparents. Kevin counts this as an achievement. Another reason for his success is his open and straightforward approach in management, which when added to his flexibility and data driven analysis, has helped him yield positive results. Kevin’s source of happiness is his 12-year-old daughter, Tia.She, She is already showing potential in soft ball and basketball.
During the tenure of his career, he has remodeled business strategies and has created responsive finance sectors that deliver positive results. By changing revenue planning processes, he has created solutions that have worked well with contractors and subcontractors all over the middle Atlantic area. Kevin was born and raised in Philadelphia. He attended the Almeda University where he graduated with his post graduate degree in Accounting.
